This 8h course is a series of 4 recorded (2 upcoming livestream) workshops in which you will learn rarely known sequences, variations and adaptations of the Yin Yoga practice. It continues on the series of Lesser-Known Yin Yoga Variations. This starts with a workshop on creating effective variations when props are unavailable, to Adapting Yin for Pregnancy and evolving into Lesser-known variations with a wall (September 29) and Functional Yin Yang Yoga: Infant series (October 20).

Each workshop starts with a 30-to-40-minute presentation on the functional approach to Yoga for the determined theme A second part of the workshop continues with a demo on Brave Bones (mobile skeleton) when applicable. The rest of the session is practice going through poses in their Yin and or Yang form. You will try out variations for each archetype pertaining to the specific focus of each workshop.

What will you learn?
• The skeletal segments of movement and myofascial muscle groups of your hips, spine, and upper body as parameters of alignment in poses.
• Discover how the shape of your bones determine which variations are best for certain individuals.
• Understand how to modify poses for pregnancy.
• How to use a wall creatively according to individuals’ unique needs either to increase or decrease ROM (range of motion).

Required props or tools.
You will need aside from a mat, a wall space.

• Each workshop is a two-hour theory and practice presentation. This totals 8 hours of video content.
• Unlimited access to recordings.
• PDF of each presentation is available under each workshop.
• This course is eligible for 8 hours of continuing education with Yoga Alliance or applicable to a 200h or 300h certification with 2Y Functional Yoga School.
• This course is available on-demand and does not expire, so you can always return to practice and revisit the material to deepen your understanding over time.

Course outcomes
• Have a deeper understanding of how your body works from an anatomical and functional perspective applied to Yoga and not only Yin Yoga.
• Be familiar with the functional approach to Yin Yang Yoga as taught by Paul Grilley.
• Have a repertoire of creative and rarely seen Yin Yang yoga poses also applicable to any hatha yoga practice.
• Learn to adapt poses when students are pregnant.

Kathy is a teachers’ teacher, has been teaching for 20+ years, is an author and assistant to Yin Yoga founder Paul Grilley. Read more about her here.
